Well Guitars Strats are great for basically everything except metal. They are good for blues, rock, and all, but not very good at the heavy end. I have an ESP Viper 200, and is perfect for punk and metal. This sounds great and looks cool. All PSE are good for metal or punk. When talking about how death metal, then go with a Schecter. Ibanez, which are good for grinding.
